Thursday’s Thoughts from Pastor David!

“What Happens After 40?

Forty days.
By now, that number ought to make your ears perk up!

For forty days the rain fell on Noah.
For forty days the spies explored the Promised Land.
For forty days Goliath shouted.
For forty days Elijah traveled.
For forty days Jesus faced temptation.
For forty days Nineveh had an opportunity to change its ending.

But there is one more remarkable forty in the New Testament

After the resurrection, Jesus did not immediately ascend into heaven.
He stayed.

Luke tells us:
“He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.”
—Acts 1:3

Think about that.

For forty days the disciples saw the risen Jesus.
They listened.
They learned.
They wondered.
They prepared.
But prepared for what?

And what in the world was going to happen when those forty days were over?
That's where we're headed Sunday as our “41” series takes us into Acts 1.

We've spent this summer asking one question:
What happens after 40?

This Sunday, the answer might surprise you.
Don't give up at 40.
Your 41 is coming.

 Grace and peace,
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
