Thursday's Thoughts from Pastor David Dendy 9-24-26

There are some words that can change everything:
“I do.”
“You’re hired.”
“You’re forgiven.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I love you!"

And then there is one tiny, three-letter word that has the power to change the direction of an entire sentence:
BUT.

Everything before it may be completely true.
The circumstances may be real.
The disappointment may be real.
The hurt may be real.
The diagnosis may be real.
BUT…

Suddenly, the sentence isn’t finished.
And sometimes neither is the story.

This Sunday we begin a brand-new sermon series at Mountain View:
“I LOVE BIG BUTS! When God Gets the Last Word”

Yes, you read that correctly.
Yes, I know exactly what it sounds like. And yes, I have been waiting entirely too long to preach a sermon series with this title!   

But behind the laughter is something I believe with all my heart:
Sometimes one little word can change everything.

I can’t wait to tell you why.
