 Thursday’s Thoughts from Pastor David!

Seventeen hours.
50,000 steps.
5,600 feet of elevation gain.
648 irregular stone steps.

And the final 400 feet? Two steel cables attached to a VERY steep granite mountain!
What could possibly go wrong?

Welcome to my recent adventure climbing Half Dome in Yosemite National Park!
There were moments of breathtaking beauty, moments of sheer exhaustion, and a few moments when I seriously questioned my ability to make good decisions!

But somewhere along that mountain trail, something happened that I wasn't expecting.
And it has everything to do with one little word in the Bible.
BUT.

This Sunday, we continue our sermon series, I LOVE BIG BUTS! — When God Gets the Last Word, with a message from Isaiah 40 entitled:

“But Those Who Wait…”

What does waiting have to do with climbing a mountain?
More than you might imagine!

And there's something remarkable tucked into Isaiah's words that I had never fully appreciated until those 50,000 steps.
